Fields and tags

How they differ, how to create them, and what cannot be changed after saving.

Fields and tags let you describe projects and candidates in your own terms. An administrator configures them under Settings → Fields and tags.

The difference

  • A field stores a value: text, a number, a date, a choice from a list.

  • A tag is a field whose values carry colours. Tags show on candidate cards as coloured stripes and chips, and they are the most convenient thing to filter by.

Creating a group

A group is a set of related values — "Skills" with java, python, sql, for instance. You create the group, choose its type and add the values.

Click "+ New tag group" and enter the group name. Choose how many tags from the group can be assigned, add tags with "+ Add a tag" and click "Save group".

The type is locked after saving

After the first save, the field type and whether it allows multiple values are locked. Changing them means creating a new group, so it is worth thinking it through at the start.

Archiving versus deleting

  • Archiving leaves the tag on records that already carry it but removes it from pickers and filters. The safe way to retire a value.

  • Deleting removes the tag everywhere, including from records. Irreversible.

Both options sit next to every tag in the expanded group card: the archive icon and the bin.

Field scope

A field can be shown only in projects carrying a chosen tag. That keeps project forms from swelling with fields that concern one type of recruitment.

In the field card, set "Available only when the project has a tag?" to "Yes", then choose the tag group and the tag.
