The search box above the candidate list does not only look at names. You can tell it where to look.

Next to the search field there is a scope selector. It offers, among others: name, email, phone, CV contents, notes, form answers and tags.

Two scopes are off by default because they slow the search down: projects and employer. If you are looking for someone by the name of a company they worked at, you need to switch those on first.

This is the most powerful option and the most often overlooked. The system searches the text of uploaded documents, so you can find a candidate by a technology that appears in no profile field.

You can narrow a query by typing several words — the candidate has to satisfy all of them. For longer phrases use quotation marks to search for the exact wording.

You cannot narrow results by date — the candidate list has no date range filter. If you need "candidates from last quarter", filter by project or stage instead, or export and filter the data outside the system.

The field at the very top of the screen searches projects and candidates at the same time, and tells you where it found the match. Handy when you cannot remember whether you are looking for a project or a person.
